Squash is actually a very long-standing game with rich history and the origins of it, goes back even more than football

In the early eighteenth century, prisoners at the Fleet, a London’s debtor’s goal, created a simplified version of real tennis.

And because it’s a prison it wasn’t a very open area sport, and that was an origin story for Squash

The Egyptian participation in Squash goes back to the 1930s the Egyptian ambassador to Great Britain in London, Abdel Fattah Amr Bey, claimed six British Opens, and there were more players over the years but the real awakening and the start of the international dominance was at 1996 When Ahmed Barada reached the finals amidst tremendous media attention

Since then Egyptian players have dominant the international scene to now the top 10 players in both men’s and women’s rankings has 5 or more Egyptian players

Since 2003 to 2018 an Egyptian won the men’s world championship 10 times

And there always has been Egyptian players in the top 5 if they weren’t the top themselves

We reached a point that at one year the top 3 players men and women were Egyptians!

A sport we’re that good at must gain more attention and receive more support from us and the government

And it’s really a pride to have such amazing players playing with our country’s name and dominating it all like no one else!

There are many more sports that we have done great honorable performance at such as: Handball, Waterpolo, Speedball, and others that we will talk about later…
